IPSIP Data Centers

Strategical Infrastructure

Data Centers ensure constant security and availability of data and applications to both clients and employees of a company: within a company’s (or a local government’s) IT infrastructure, it is therefore fair to say their role is that of the brain.

Which Data Center does your company need?

Companies that choose our Data Centers want to acquire their own infrastructure without giving up crucial factors such as fast deployment and upgradability.

Selecting a Data Center depends on needs that are specific to a Client’s activity, as well as on their spatial constraints.

Depending on whether your company has adapted premises, or operates under extreme conditions, or needs multiple units scattered across different places, each case is going to need a solution that is tailored to its specific features.

Companies and Local Governments
facing similar issues.

Video surveillance within airports and stadiums, instantaneous information transmission between public utilities, energy savings: cities have been massively adopting the Smart City concept.

This new paradigm has placed Data Centers as the brain of these smart and responsive infrastructures.

Data Centers allow Local Governments to store CCTV recordings and street lighting systems to share data and adjust their levels of energy consumption, leading to drastic savings in a Local Government’s budget.

Data Security & Privacy:
Make your Data traceable

Data storage dematerialization applied to public utilities and governance has raised concerns among Local Governments we work with as to how the data of their citizens are now being protected.

IPSIP Group has chosen to take the opposing view of Cloud Storage as large firms see it today, following indications that data localization is never guaranteed by multinational companies and remains therefore unknown: IPSIP offers instead a Private Cloud storage solution.

IPSIP’s Private Cloud provides all the benefits of Cloud Storage, namely a round-the-clock and cross-platform data accessibility.

Built around local infrastructures, it adds data localization to the service: security and privacy are at last reconciled.

Why a Smart City can make a difference

Financially Efficient

  • Improves information sharing and extends cooperation between city services
  • Improves quality of service and use of operational resources
  • Optimizes investments
  • Increases city’s responsiveness following unforeseen events

Environmentally Sustainable

  • Decreases energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions while stimulating renewables energies
  • Optimizes natural resources usage
  • Decreases needs for heavy investments
  • Protects city’s cultural heritage and shapes its future

Meaningful for Citizens and Businesses

  • Offers a better quality of life to citizens
  • Helps develop new, innovative services, for citizens and companies alike
  • Increases a city’s attractiveness and competitiveness

How Smart Cities help Local Governments

Energy Management

  • Smartgrids Deployement
  • Interactive Management and Measurement
  • Renewable Energies Integration

Building / Housing Management

  • Integrated Systems for Building Management (energy, security, video surveillance, etc.)
  • Consumption Control Dashboards (energy/CO²)
  • Smart Housing Management
  • Smartgrid Connection

Mobility Management

  • Electric Car Terminal
  • Road Traffic
  • Public Transport
  • Urban Toll Booths
  • Interactivity with commuters

Integrated Management: mobility, lighting, citizens

  • Energy & CO² Information and Management System
  • Interactive Services and Meteorology Expertise

These innovative applications are based on the deployement of a dedicated security system,
that ensures the proper storage of data collected to improve efficiency in managing the city:
the local urban Data Center.

Energy efficiency: our strategic challenge

Data Centers’ energy efficiency is not a concern for large firms only, whose reputation indeed also relies on environmental performances kept under close scrutiny: any company must examine its levels of energy efficiency in order to decrease these expenses.

Up until today, European companies remain inefficient: their infrastructures are not optimized and still remain unnecessarily energy intensive.

The Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) enables a company to evaluate the environmental performance of its Data Center. It indicates the annual ratio between the total amount of energy used (including cooling systems) and the energy that is strictly used to power computer systems.

For Clients wishing to reduce their energy expenses and environmental impact, IPSIP conceives its Data Centers in accordance with strict energetics standards. Besides, when conditions allow it, IPSIP opts for free cooling, so as to get the lowest possible PUE.

Data Centers Classification

It is composed of four Tiers, each Tier comprising the characteristics of the lower Tiers plus some improvements.

Tier 1

The first level provides a single non-redundant distribution path serving the IT equipment and non-redundant capacity components.

Its expected availability is 99,67 % (about 28 hours of down-time per year).

Its main weakness is the existence of numerous SPOF (Single Point of Failure), which implies that all systems must be shutdown during maintenance operations.

Tier 2

Tier 2 implies an infrastructure that has redundant capacity components, though both power source and cooling remain non-redundant.

Its expected availability is 99,75 % (about 22 hours of down-time per year).

Tier 3

Tier 3 ensures an infrastructure of which all components are redundant, all systems are dual-powered, but with an active/passive power source.

The expected availability reaches 99,98 % (about an hour of down-time per year).

Tier 4

Tier 4 guarantees an infrastructure that is completely redundant and fault-tolerant.

This Tier reaches and can even outperform 99,99 % of expected availability (about 24 minutes of down-time per year).

Shutting down computer systems is never neeeded, including during maintenance and/or replacement operations.

IPSIP’s Data Centers belong to Tier 3 and Tier 4.

Remote Monitoring & Maintenance under Operational Conditions

IPSIP Group, through its subsidiary IPSIP Services, owns a Network Operations Center (N.O.C.) that allows the company to remotely monitor its clients’ IT Infrastructures.

Our Client Support staff and System Administrators control hardware as well as software infrastructures, 24:7 – 365 days a year.

See how

System Administrators manage Client Support Operators

Software Security

Antivirus and protection against spyware. Automatic alert in case of intrusion attempts. Instant response by an operator to the security threat.

Equipment Security

CPU load, memory usage, disk space and network interface load are risk factors being monitored 24:7.

Continuity of Service

The operations that are most precious to your activity are risk-proof: Web servers, e-mail servers, hosting servers, Web services, processes, etc.

Human Operator

Client Support Operators, managed by experienced System Administrators, respond 24:7 to alerts that are transmitted to our Network Operations Center.

Infrastructure Monitoring

Temperature, condition of the cooling systems, inverter and battery status, are crucial information, controlled 24:7.

Stress Tests

Automated surveillance and proactive check-ups by a human operator complement one another in confirming the low level of software/equipment risk.
